Day 2 meant I had to wake up at 4 am. I am not usually a morning person but I think delirium powered me that morning. I was up so early as I had to get myself ready, coffee on and then ensure the crew were all awake. Once awake I started making everyone's toast, I don't think I've ever eaten that much toast before Rory was taking a while to get ready I was making his toast then he said it was too cold to eat so I just ate it, I also got the travel cups I'd bought with me ready to go packed everyone's lunches, the B-roll cameras and spare batteries and we all packed up the car and drove over to Kays to set up whilst awaiting sunrise.

Once we had enough light we got to filming with Robyn, Rory and Will following Kay closely as she began work in the hospital section. Once Kay had finished her normal daily routine with the birds and Leah and Kay had prepared Gary's dialysis, we had a break for lunch and followed this with an interview in the kitchen led by Will and assisted by me, in which we captured the first of a few calls from people who had found birds.

After lunch, it was time for the crew to split up I'd booked a group bus ticket for the A-camera team so they were ready to set off on their veterinary adventure whilst Stan and I headed to the seafront to get some B-roll (we met this beautiful cat en route) and then onto the crew crib to warm up/dry off, data wrangle and a power nap for me. As the wonderful photo below, of me with a fringe much like that of Lydia's in Beetlejuice, indicates the clouds decided to let rip which definitely made filming so much easier for me. With thee B-roll footage I aimed to get similar close-ups of wild birds like those we had already captured of Kay's birds, alongside longer shots of birds in general that could be used for transitions or for the credits.

We headed back to set late afternoon to help with the final sit down interview again led by Will with my assistance in questions and on the second camera. Once we wrapped up the shoot we headed back to the house where I prepped the pasta dinner and as we reviewed the day's footage so that we could plan any pick-up shots needed the next day, whilst getting in a little bit of self-care before bed.
