Kay Ounsworth, runs the only bird rehabilitation centre on the Isle of Wight that accepts all species of wild bird, out of her council estate home Paying for every birds treatment herself/out of what little money she gets from donations (no discount from vets for Surgery or medication). She runs it with volunteers, all of which have their own unique stories alongside caring for her disabled husband and young daughter, over the course of a year will house and maintain and nurse over 1600 #birds. We aim to tell her story to raise awareness for her under appreciated work.

The story will follow every action that goes on over a two day period of Kay’s life, with narration from herself, volunteers and neighbours. The daily activities include:

  • Feeding and medicating the over 40 birds she has in her house at any one time

  • Helping her disabled husband

  • Responding to, on average, 30 calls a day about injured birds

  • Following her journey to collect the animals.

  • Take them to the vet and pay for their treatments

  • Allocate space within her council house home

  • Releasing birds back into the wild

  • Running her Facebook page and trying to manage donations

  • Starts again the next day

We need to raise the funds for the crews accommodation and travel, with hopes to be able to raise additional funds to donate to Kay. Our budget is currently set at raising £500 which would easily cover our expenses and give Kay at least £100 to go towards her care of the birds. Any support would be greatly appreciated through our Indigogo even a simple share helps :)
