Money. One of the biggest stresses and definitely the biggest confinemen when it comes to film. Luckily for us 'Wings' din't require a big crew, a set build or any kind of costuming as it's a naturalistic documentary but of course with most projects there has to be some form of expense. For us the biggest thing to worry about was how the crew; who were all based in Farnham, Surrey, were going to live on the Island for a few days. Our initial aim was to raise around £500 covering travel, accomodation, food, hire of a drone and having money left in the pot to either get Kay a thank you gift or to donate towards the birds care. We started by having crew members put in a share and creating an Indiegogo page.

I did my research and out of all the crowd funding platforms Indiegogo seemed to take the smallest percentage, however once we had recieved a fair few donations we were hit with an issue. Indiegogo had a hidden exchange rate as it's an american domain which was keeping us under the required amount to cash out the donations and was charging a lot more than their platform percentage had suggested it would. In the best interest of the film and with Will's support I decided to email all of our backers issuing them a free refund and if they still wanted to donate, asking if they could do so via the films paypal account with the mindset that we'd rather all the money go to the film or stay with the donors ratheer than go straight into the pockets aat Indiegogo.

Whilst we didn't get replies from all the backers (I issued full refunds to all of them nonetheless) we still were able to raise enough to cover the majority of expenses from the initial shoot.
